The third chakra is called the Solar Plexus Chakra, also known as Manipura Chakra, it is a source of personal power and governs self-esteem, warrior energy, and the power of transformation. The Manipura chakra also controls metabolism and digestion. Solar Plexus is the third Chakra from the bottom in the 7 chakras located about 5cm (2inches) above the navel. It often deals with raw emotions, like anger, frustration and directly affects your ability to project your will into manifestation. The main meanings associated with the third chakra are: Will, personal power, taking responsibility for one’s life, taking control, making decisions, self-discipline, independence, confidence, Forming personal opinions and Clarity of judgments. Solar Plexus chakra is most commonly represented with the color yellow. Since it’s associated with the element of fire.
Balanced chakras are essential to a healthy life. Difficult or traumatic experiences in life can cause certain chakras to become blocked, which in turn causes other chakras to compensate for them. Your third chakra might also go on overdrive when the neighboring energy centers are disturbed.
Balanced Solar Plexus
A balanced solar plexus chakra makes it easy to find balance between your personal power and harmonious relationships with others; on the other hand an imbalanced third chakra could undermine your self-esteem and social life.
When the Solar Plexus chakra is balanced, you may be assertive, have harmonious relationships with your surroundings, and exert your will in a way that leads to the expected results somewhat effortlessly. On the other hand when the Solar Plexus is Imbalances you may have feeling of helplessness and irresponsibility. Being obsessed with minute details, seeing life through a filter of plus and minuses while losing sight of the whole picture. Making plans or having a lot of ideas without finding efficient ways to realize them
Certain foods can be used to heal the solar plexus chakra. Adding these to your diet or increasing the amount you eat can help activate your chakra. Try to add these to your diet: Bananas, sunflower seeds. sweet potatoes, brown rice pumpkins, lentils, yellow and orange peppers, lemons, corn, yellow pears, Squash, brown rice, oats.
Use Yellow color to support or stimulate the third chakra. For example, incorporating the color yellow into your decor at home and work is a nice, subtle way to bring focus to the chakra. Wearing yellow outfit is a great boost for chakra healing and balance. Meditating on the color yellow also helps alleviate solar plexus chakra chakra imbalance. Surrounding yourself with pictures of yellow things can begin to bring this chakra into balance.
Since the color of this chakra is yellow or gold, any gem corresponding to these colors will help to open the solar plexus area and bring energy to the spleen, liver, pancreas, and stomach. Tiger’s eye, Citrin, Yellow topaz, Rhodochrosite stones are all great gems to enhance your sense of personal power.
Meditation is one of the most effective ways to balance the Solar Plexus Chakra. Soothing meditation is often best done in the dark or in dim light. To unlock your Solar Plexus, try imagining a bright yellow ball of energy over your solar plexus. Hold the image in your mind for a few minutes as you feel the excess energy flowing out into the ball. Then take a deep breath, let it out, and feel the ball dissipate as the excess energy flows throughout your entire body and into the world around you. Imagine those for a few minutes at a time throughout the day while taking deep, calming breaths.
Essential oils and flower essences used to balance the solar plexus chakra include” rose, rosewood, sandalwood, chamomile, lemon, ginger, black pepper, cinnamon, clove. A few drops in a hot bath can provide a relaxing location for meditation.
Taking a walk out in the sun is extremely beneficial. The Solar plexus’ Element is Fire. Sitting in front of a campfire, or fireplace can have an instant healing effect.
Any yoga pose that brings heat to the area of the solar plexus is good for stimulating a sluggish third chakra. These poses include:
- Navasana (boat pose),
- Matsyandrasana (seated spinal twist), and
Affirmations that focus on self-acceptance and boundaries are most useful. Solar Plexus Chakra is closely tied with strength and a healthy sense of self. Some affirmations include:
- I believe in myself.
- I love and accept myself.
- I am confident in all that I do.
- I can achieve anything I desire.
- I am successful
- I deserve to be loved and respected by those around me.
The mantra sound for the third chakra is RAM. Chanting this sound will help to open and align the chakra.
